Integrative medicine in Miami, grounded in internal medicine
Personalized integrative functional medicine is offered at our downtown Miami office. Dr. Tancinco spent nearly 20 years in internal medicine before adding coursework with the Institute for Functional Medicine and integrative certification in gastroenterology, endocrinology, cardiology and neurology through The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
That training spans digestion, hormones, the heart and the nervous system, which helps when symptoms cross those lines. The result is care that respects conventional diagnosis while making time for the questions that need longer visits: why did this start, and what connects your symptoms?
What a functional medicine doctor does
A functional medicine doctor takes a long, detailed history, then looks at how a problem in one system, such as blood sugar, hormones, digestion or sleep, may be driving symptoms in another. Testing is chosen to answer specific questions. The plan usually pairs nutrition, sleep, stress and activity changes with conventional treatment when it’s needed, and as an internist, Dr. Tancinco can diagnose, order tests and prescribe.
When labs come back normal: looking for other causes
When labs are normal but symptoms continue, we look for other causes. Standard panels may not test everything relevant to your symptoms, so a broader workup can help find other causes. Functional medicine treats symptoms as clues and looks at how hormones, metabolism, gut health and inflammation interact.
The downtown office serves Brickell, Downtown Miami, Edgewater, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne and Miami Beach. If disrupted rest is the thread running through your symptoms, see our sleep problems guide.
Common reasons patients come in
- Fatigue that rest doesn’t fix
- Brain fog or trouble concentrating
- Weight gain or a slowing metabolism
- Poor or broken sleep
- Digestive issues such as bloating or irregularity
- Anxiety or low mood
- Unexplained inflammation or allergies
Seeing a functional medicine doctor in Miami, step by step
A conversation first
The free 15-minute discovery call covers your main concerns and explains how the programs work. It isn’t a medical visit, and you decide afterward whether to continue. Miami patients can request one at 786-473-4815, by email or through the contact form.
A deeper evaluation
Extended time with Dr. Tancinco covers your history, lifestyle, stress and sleep. Advanced labs follow, chosen for your situation.
A coordinated plan
After reviewing results with you, he recommends a program, such as Vital Wellness for hormone and weight concerns or Restore Wellness when conditions such as digestive issues or Hashimoto’s are involved; the program overview lists all five. The plan may include nutrition, targeted supplementation, sleep and stress strategies, and hormone or metabolic treatment when testing shows a clinical need. Follow-up visits monitor progress and refine the plan.
Areas the evaluation can cover
Depending on your symptoms, testing and review may include:
- Hormones, including thyroid
- Metabolism and insulin sensitivity
- Micronutrient levels
- Inflammation markers
- Gut and digestive health
- Cardiovascular risk
- Stress, sleep and daily routines
How results are used
Testing is chosen for relevance rather than volume. Your history and symptoms decide what’s ordered, and results are read alongside how you feel day to day. Prescription treatment is considered only when results and symptoms together show a clinical need; otherwise the plan leans on nutrition, sleep, stress and activity, with follow-up testing where it helps.

Cost and insurance

Cost depends on the program recommended after your evaluation and is explained on the discovery call. HSA and FSA payments are accepted, subject to plan eligibility, and CareCredit is available.
Where to go from here
Functional medicine often overlaps with other care offered at the same downtown office. Women whose symptoms track with perimenopause or menopause can raise hormone questions during the evaluation, and weight that won’t shift can be addressed with the clinic’s medical weight loss program. Men whose symptoms point toward hormones can read about testosterone therapy in Miami. If you also spend time in Arkansas, see our functional medicine doctor in Little Rock at the Regions Center. When you’re ready, request your discovery call.

Questions
Common questions about functional medicine in miami
What should I know before choosing functional medicine?
Expect a longer process than a typical office visit. Evaluations take time, changes to food, sleep and stress ask for steady effort, and progress is usually gradual. Functional medicine doesn’t replace urgent or specialist care when you need it. At this clinic it’s practiced by an internist, so conventional diagnosis and treatment remain part of the plan.
Can a functional medicine doctor help with fatigue and brain fog?
Often the first step is finding out why they’re happening. The evaluation may look at thyroid function, blood sugar and insulin, iron and other nutrients, hormones, sleep, stress and inflammation, which can all contribute. When labs are normal but symptoms continue, we look for other causes. Treatment depends on what the evaluation finds and is tailored to you.
How much does functional medicine cost, and does the Miami office take insurance?
The cost depends on which of the five programs is recommended after your evaluation, and it’s explained on the free discovery call. Vital Longevity Clinic is cash-based and isn’t contracted with any health insurance providers, in Miami or Arkansas. HSA and FSA payments are accepted, subject to plan eligibility, and CareCredit is accepted.
Do I have to give up my primary care doctor to see a functional medicine doctor?
No. You can keep your primary care doctor for routine care, screenings and urgent problems while working with Dr. Tancinco on symptoms that haven’t been explained. Bring records and recent lab results from your other doctors so testing isn’t repeated without reason, and let each doctor know about any new medications or supplements you start.
Does functional medicine look at heart health?
It can. Cardiovascular and longevity-focused care is one of the clinic’s areas of focus, and depending on your history the evaluation may look at cardiovascular risk alongside blood sugar, inflammation and metabolic health, which are closely linked. Dr. Tancinco’s training includes integrative cardiology certification through The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
